WHAT FEEDS YOU?
Matthew 4:4 – “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.”
What have we been putting into our minds and hearts every day? We do not live only on what we eat physically, but also on what we consume with our eyes, ears, and thoughts. Social media, television series, music, conversations, friendships, daily habits—all of these feed something inside us. But the big question is: Is this feeding the spirit or just the flesh?
Many Christians live spiritually weak not because of a lack of faith, but because they are filled with empty things. They feed on toxic content, negative words, influences that distance them from God. Just as the body becomes ill when it eats poorly, the soul also becomes ill when it receives rubbish every day.
Proverbs 4:23 – “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”
What we put inside us will sooner or later come out in the form of attitudes, words, and decisions. That is why the Bible teaches us to meditate on the Word day and night (Psalm 1:2-3), thinking about what is true, pure and just (Philippians 4:8), and flee from evil company, which corrupts good morals (1 Corinthians 15:33).
What has been shaping your inner self? What have you been allowing into your thoughts and emotions? If what nourishes you distances you from God, it’s not food, it’s poison.
Romans 12:2 – “Do not conform to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind…”
God desires us to be filled with His presence, His Word, and that which edifies us. When we feed our spirit, we gain strength, clarity, peace, and direction. But this requires daily choices: turning off to pray, rejecting what is toxic, seeking what is holy and eternal – Jesus.
