Matthew 11:28 – “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
We live in a time when everything happens quickly. Our routines are full, our minds are always occupied, and our hearts are often empty. We rush to keep up with everything, but we lose peace, joy, and connection with God. Our souls cry out for rest, but we continue to ignore the signs.
It was for moments like these that Jesus spoke:
“Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” – Matthew 11:29
He doesn’t offer a superficial rest, but a deep one that renews us from within. The world imposes a rhythm that exhausts us, but Jesus invites us to live in a rhythm of grace, gentleness, and peace.
“In conversion and rest is your salvation; in quietness and trust is your strength.” Isaiah 30:15
The Bible warns us against the danger of a life full of work, but empty of God… In Ecclesiastes 2:22-23, it asks: “What does man gain from all his labor?” And it answers: only pain and sorrow. In Psalm 127:2, we learn that “it is in vain that one rises early and goes late to rest, eating the bread of sorrows,” for the Lord gives rest to his beloved. It is not wrong to work, plan, or strive. The problem lies in doing all this far from God, trying to carry burdens that were not made for us.
True rest is not found in vacations, nor in free time, but in the presence of God. Only He can fill the void left by haste, anxiety, and distance. Racing hearts need to learn to stop, listen, and trust.
“For my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and hewed out cisterns for themselves… that can hold no water.” Jeremiah 2:13
If your heart is weary, anxious, or empty, accept Jesus’ invitation. Go to Him. He slows down on the outside so He can be restored on the inside.
Living with Him means exchanging chaos for peace, anxiety for confidence, and emptiness for fullness.
