Be Perfect !!?

If you keep searching for the perfect process, you will eventually give up.

We cannot deny that we all tend to strive for perfection; we always want to show that we are perfect in everything we do. Simply put, we want to show others what we are not.

We strive for perfection in various contexts, such as in the way we dress and groom ourselves, in the way we treat others, and in the way we serve God.

Striving for perfection in everything is not negative; on the contrary, it is something that Jesus himself tells us to do!

Matthew 5:48- Therefore, be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect.

The problem is that being imperfect ourselves, we want the process of achieving perfection to be automatically perfect, which is impossible! And when we see that our process is not perfect, we become demotivated and end up giving up.

For example, you’re going to say you never said, “I’m starting my diet on 1 January, Monday, the very first day of the year!”

Or “From the first day of next month, I’ll start going to the gym.”

Or “This is the last time I will commit this sin; after this, I will stop forever!”

Or even “When I am more stable, I will begin to draw closer to God.”

If you’ve ever said any of these phrases, don’t worry, because you’re not alone! And we all know that when we fail to live up to any of these phrases, we tend to feel bad about ourselves and eventually give up.

The truth is that we always seek to achieve a certain goal without failing in the process, without falling along the way, without committing any kind of sin. But that is impossible! We will always fail until we reach perfection.

As shown in the example, in addition to seeking this perfect process in our lives, we also try to seek it in our relationship with God.

We say, “From today onwards, I will not sin anymore”; “Every day, I will talk to God without fail at 6 o’clock in the morning”; “I will never fail God again,” but the truth is that we are unable to fulfil these promises.

This failure to execute a supposedly perfect process causes us to put God aside because we think it is no longer worth trying or because perhaps “it is better to start tomorrow.”

I want you to understand from this study that this is not what God wants! God does not demand that your path to perfection be perfect! God knows you will fail! But He expects you not to give up, and that when you fail, you can draw closer to God!

Our plan may always seem better, more composed, and present unmatched perfection, but the Lord’s plans and thoughts are greater.

Isaiah 55:9—For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

So don’t expect your journey towards perfection and a relationship with God to be perfect! And don’t give up when you make a mistake!

In summary:

  1. Decide to seek God, repenting of your sins and connecting with Him daily.
  2. When you fail in your search for God, confess your failure to God and draw ever closer to him.
  3. Do not let your mind or the enemy deceive you; meditate on the Word of God
  4. Stand firm

I hope this study has helped you grow closer to Jesus.
