Nowadays, we live an extremely busy life, and due to the amount of things we have to do, we forget to be Human, we forget to express and process what we feel.
When we forget to express and process what we feel or experience daily, we are constantly suppressing our heart and soul, which makes us superficial towards other people, towards ourselves and towards God.
The superficiality present in us often goes unnoticed by other people or even by ourselves, but never by God.
“The Lord does not look as man does: man looks on appearance, but God looks on the heart” 1 Samuel 16:7
But, what does it have to do with becoming superficial with “Learning to Confess and Ask For Forgiveness”?
The superficiality is often present in us and directly affects our personal relationship with God, causing us to stop truly speaking about what we feel or truly confessing our mistakes and consequently we stop truly repenting.
The forgiveness of our sins comes from a TRUE confession and a SINCERE request for forgiveness, and which through Jesus’ sacrifice for us on the cross is accepted by God.
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9
So how should we confess and ask for forgiveness?
When we confess, we must be honest with God and with ourselves. We must admit that we have sinned in a given situation and we must not omit facts or feelings that we have experienced during the practice of sin. We must say everything that is in our heart and conscience, without suppressing or being superficial.
After the confession to God, we must ask forgiveness for the sin we confessed, always with a repentant heart and believing that God is Faithful and Just to forgive and save us.
To finish, I would like to leave 2 warnings:
1st Be yourself towards God
God is your Father, it was He who created you and has known you forever! Don’t pretend you’re not feeling what you know you’re feeling! In all situations, at all times and during any type of feeling, go to God and talk to Him.
2nd Repent of your sins and change your life
Repentance is not just confessing and asking for forgiveness, repentance is also changing your life after having committed the sin. Thus showing God that our request for forgiveness was sincere and true.
I hope this study helped! May the Grace and Peace of God that surpasses all understanding be with you, in the Name of Jesus, Amen!
